D uring my last meet up at UNE I met Grace Farrington and she introduced my project to the members of the Women's Gender Studies Club.  I was then invited to set up my collaboration studio at their annual event the end of April 2019. Tarryn and Spencer made paper dolls and I met so many people including Professor DeWolfe who I am looking forward to talking with soon.  Prof DeWolfe and I were both very excited about ideas of how to incorporate Dress Codes into one of her courses.  She teaches American Women's History, and I hope I get to sit in on one of her classes during the semester.  The event was situated in my favorite location so far at UNE, by the plant wall in Ripich Commons.  I love making students photographs here.  Tarryn Nutt, (also seen below) is an active member of WGSC, her shirt says gay: fine with me. Dress Codes: In full swing with the generous gift of an artist residency from Turkey Land Cove Foundation to support the October collaborative exhibition at University of New England in Biddeford, Maine.  I am so very thankful for this amazing opportunity to have the time to work on this project.  April started with a visit to UNE then off to a two week residency at Turkey Land Cove Foundation (photo above) where I was able to have focused time to bring my project together and further develop my ideas. My biggest and most heartfelt thanks to the foundation for this opportunity and another big thank you to all that are helping this project to develop and grow. Just before finals, I will visit UNE as a guest of the Women's and Gender Studies Club setting up a table at their lunch event.

University of New England Collaboration continues... On April 2nd, 2019 my meet up at UNE was a great success, I met new people and had amazing conversation on the topic of "Dress Codes" the subject of my up and coming exhibition at UNE in October 2019.  Participation included being photographed, making paper dolls/dress up, video interviews and I am looking forward to returning soon. I was delighted to meet such an exciting and diverse group of students studying Biology, Women's studies, Psychology and more who had wonderful and insightful thoughts about gender codes and identity, and I can't thank you enough for sharing with me, I look forward to seeing you all again and talking and collaborating more. On Valentine's Day at the Ketchum Library Gallery, Cally Gurley, Special Collections Librarian and I set up an interactive meet up and I had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful people interested in the project: Dress Codes. During my visit I was able to see more of the beautiful campus, and I am very excited about being creative with UNE including art making, research, photography and to get together to talk about dress, dress codes, identity and culture.   Tentatively I am schedule for another visit on April 2nd.      The show is scheduled to open October 1, 2019. I have been working with the cyanotype process more seriously for the past couple of years, adding to my Ms. Behavior series and to an on going series called Dulce Suenos which the piece being made below is part of. The photograph is of me creating a large scale cyanotpye on silk of Hilaconea while visiting friends in San Poncho, Mexico and where these plants were growing in their garden.  (photo by Bill Paarlberg who assisted me in this piece) The final piece is for sale and presently exhibited at Camera Commons in Dover, NH. As a record it displaces time and holds a singular and past moment.  The reality of that moment may or may not have been actual, but the photograph suggests a real something that recalls a convergence of light, color and form. The convergence may be seen as a circumstance. The photographic function of recognition is more specifically an opportunity for recognition, since recognition requires a viewer, a witness.
