Artist Curated Book Display

For the month of June I was the featured artist at The Portsmouth Public Library.  On display was my hand made book, Mad Women, and a selection of my recent favorite borrowed items from the library.   My interests resulted in a new Bobby McFerrin CD and three new books added to the library collection; one from Penland on book making and two others on artists Cindy Sherman and Francesca Woodman.   Below is an installation shot, video and list of books I most recently utilized while working on my project, Ms. Behavior which will be exhibited in North Carolina in August and upcoming at the Griffin Museum, opening July19th, 2012.

During the display Jennifer Moore from the library recommended a movie to me called Marwencal.   It was amazing and captivating.
Here is a link to the movie:

http://www.marwencol.com/ and it can be borrowed from my local library.

Mark Hogancamp is the subject of the film and the a documentary portrayal is a compelling piece utilizing music, voiceover and composition with a journalists sensibility, telling a story that keeps unfolding.
The next Artist Curated Book Display will be in September 2012.
